WELCOME TO 4HEADSThe 4heads play at The Marsham Arms Coaching Inn on 24th February, 2012 - 8.30pm4heads are members drawn from several bands who played at Norwich Training College, Keswich Hall, Norwich, UK between 1963 and 1968. In those heady days of the '60s' (now our ages rather than our era) members came from college bands called Johnny Zero and the Countdowns, The Bill of Rights and a later reincarnation The Bill of Rights Blues Brass. The Bill of Rights played on the same bill as Manfred Mann, The Kinks, Ten Years After, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Tich and played all over Norwich, at the Norwich Rag Barbecues in Earlham Park and in various village halls across Norfolk. Since then individuals have played in various Norfolk bands, duos and for shows and concerts. The rebirth of interest in sixties music over the last fifteen years has meant that the music we love has undergone a revival of interest. The band 4heads was formed in 1994 to celebrate a 50th birthday celebration and they continued to play until 2004 when they had a long rest before reforming in 2008 and continuing to play. The name 4heads comes from the fact hat all of the band members became headteachers of middle schools in Norfolk although they are now gladly retired from the chalk face! The band has played all over Norwich, Norfolk and Suffolk. Sadly our bass player Rob Jackson died last year. The band has continued as a trio its members are: Neil Beacock (guitar/vocals), John Knowles (bass/vocals) and Tony Blake (drums/vocals). Tracks recorded by the band can be found on the Music pages. The band was known for its strong, unique covers of Rock and Blues classics by artists such as, The Rolling Stones, Cockney Rebel, Boz Skaggs, Big House, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams and John Hiatt. "This is a great party and gig band that communicate the fun they have playing together with their audiences." "Loud, raucous and very funny!" "Best evening I've had for years!" "Even better than the Beatles!" These are all quotations we are waiting to hear from our fans. 4heads are very popular and have even had an in-depth article published about them by the Daily Telegraph! (Not bad for Guardian Readers). |
